System Requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2024 – What’s New

To ensure that you can use QuickBooks smoothly, your computer must meet the system requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2024. These requirements typically cover hardware, software, server, and software compatibility, creating a foundation for amazing performance.

Required System Specifications for QuickBooks Desktop for Windows

Supported Operating Systems

Here’s a list of supported versions of Windows operating system and Windows Server:

1. Windows 11, 64-bit, natively installed
2. Windows 10, all 64-bit editions, natively installed
3. Windows Server 2022, Standard and Essentials
4. Windows Server 2019, Standard and Essentials
5. Windows Server 2016, Standard and Essentials

If you are a Windows Server 2012 (Standard and Essentials) User

Keep in mind that Microsoft no longer supports or provides security updates for computers running on Windows Standard and Essentials Server 2012 and Server 2012 R2 after Oct 10, 2023. So, you need to upgrade the Windows Standard and Essentials Server versions to the higher ones. 

NOTE: Microsoft no longer supports Linux and Windows 10 S Mode. QuickBooks asks you to use Windows natively without any emulator or virtual environment.

To run all of your accounting and other operations, QuickBooks Desktop 2024 requires using a 64-bit Windows operating system. So, make sure not to run it on 32-bit Windows.

   • For Contact Synchronization with Microsoft Outlook, Outlook needs to be in 2021, 2019 (32 and 64-bit), or 2016.

• For multi-user Server: Intel Core 2 Duo or a higher processor to run a server.
• 2 GB RAM (4 GB RAM recommended).
• 250 MB of available storage.
• Use a Macintosh-compatible printer if you want to print invoices, checks, deposit slips, lists, purchase orders, mailing labels, reports, or graphs in QuickBooks Desktop. 
• If you plan to print checks, use only Intuit checks.

Integration/compatibility Requirements

You can integrate QuickBooks Desktop with a number of Mac applications listed below: 

• Export report data – Microsoft Excel 2016 or later, Apple Numbers v12.0 or later, including Microsoft 365
• E-mail as PDF – To save email as PDFs, it is recommended to use Apple Mail, Microsoft Outlook 2016 or later, including Microsoft 365.
• File conversion – QuickBooks Mac 2024 supports:

• One-way conversion to QuickBooks Online
• The one-way conversion from QB Desktop for Windows 2021 and 2023.
• For Windows 2024, conversion to and from QuickBooks.
